Leadership comes from membership. We believe that God has provided every gift and every talent through every person in our church (I Corinthians 1.7). Further, as a Gospel-Centered, church planting church we believe that within our church, and people who are coming to our church that aren't even here yet, God has prepared leaders that will be discovered and developed through The Church in DeKalb. Therefore, members play an integral role as our church.
Our Council of Elders:
At heart, Paul is a teacher and a shepherd. He loves helping make people feel welcome and connected and is passionate about people reading and understanding the words about Christ.
Paul grew up in western Texas where he learned and understood the gospel and felt God’s call to be an ambassador for His kingdom. From an earthly standpoint, mathematics brought him to DeKalb to teach at NIU, but he also clearly sees God’s providence in leading he and his wife Stephanie The Church in DeKalb.
Paul and Stephanie were married in 2010, the same year they moved to DeKalb, and thus their married life so far has been blessed and supported by our broader church family. It can be hard living states away from natural family, but God has met their needs in abundance through our church family.
Jamie Page: Lead Pastor
Pastor Jamie believes that the most important thing about people is our view of God, and to the extent that our view of God is distorted our life will be out of focus. The only way to have a right view of God is to be transformed by the Gospel which is the only way to know God rightly.
He came to DeKalb after realizing three things: DeKalb is a beautiful city, a broken city, and a city that the Gospel can and is redeeming.
Pastor Jamie graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Jamie and his wife Cherron have been married for 18 years and have two children, Noël and Calvin.
Having grown up in a Christian home, Stephanie has been exposed to Christ all her life. She is truly amazed at just how dynamic and simple the Gospel is as she continues to learn more about a God that has no end. Stephanie has been so excited to hear the Gospel taught in a way that captivates and challenges her heart for Jesus at The Church in DeKalb.
A verse that has struck Stephanie about her caring for the church is this, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the LORD Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Col. 3:17. Her desires are to take the training and knowledge she has learned from previous administrative experience and honor God with using her gifts and talents in that. She has a joy and passion in being able to work in this way. Stephanie and her family arrived at The Church in DeKalb in the fall of 2014 and have been excited to grow in the LORD as a family and serve the LORD as a family.
Stephanie has been married to her husband, Willie since 2006. They have settled in Sycamore in 2011 and have been given the blessings of two children, Chloe and soon to be born baby, Alexie.
Emily is propelled by the love God has given her in Christ to extend His loving hand to those who need it. She is passionate about serving the leaders and body of the church. She is also quite passionate about caring for children, in particular at risk and foster children.
Emily serves in a variety of places here at The Church in Dekalb. She is a deaconess, an assistant to the Pastors, and the Director of Kids Hope USA ministry for our church body to name a few.
Emily is married to Ryan Prickett, they met in in 2004 and were married in July 2012. They reside in Dekalb with their son Jonathan James Prickett.

Dawn loves the fact that she can use music as a tool for worshiping the Lord.
Because Dawn’s family currently lives in the far off lands of Texas and California, she has seen The Church in DeKalb has stepped into her life in an amazing way. Jesus has shown Dawn in a very real and tangible way how His church really is a body and that we can be united through Christ.
